In most emergency disaster situations you can plan on being without power temporarly. You might be surprised how much space you will save by putting all of those blankets from the top of one's closet to some few plastic tubs. Wherever you put yours make sure it is not the same place as your passport. For example, canvas materials and baskets won't work well for heavy items such as clothes.
